BELIEFS
"God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all." - 1 Jn 1:5
Resilience Integrated Care holds to the classic, biblical, historical doctrine and beliefs of the Christian faith including the Apostle's Creed and the Nicene Creed. The statements below use the word "we" to refer to Resilience Integrated Care, Lyndsey Jolley, and any representatives thereof.
SCRIPTURE
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, all-sufficient, and authoritative Word of God. We submit ourselves, our counsel, support, and all that we do to the authority of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments (2 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 4:12).
GOD
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory. This triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all things (John 17:11; Rev. 1:8).
HUMANITY
We believe humanity was created in the image of God, and it was very good (Genesis 1:31). We believe humanity chose to rebel and sin against God and was thus condemned to live in a fallen world infiltrated by sin and toil, ultimately ending in death and eternal separation from God in hell (Romans 3:23).
JESUS
We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory (Matthew 1:23, John 1:1-14, 1 Cor. 15:3-4).
SALVATION
We believe the kingdom of God has come near through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Mark 1:15). Through Him, God restores what is broken, invites people to know Him personally, and brings them into new life under His leadership (Luke 4:18–19). God sent His Son to save humanity from sin, God's wrath, the enemy, and the effects of a fallen world—bringing redemption, peace, healing, and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:9; 14:17).
By grace, through faith in Christ, we are born into new life by the Spirit, forgiven, made righteous, fully justified, and given the promise of eternal life (John 3:16–17; Acts 2:38). Jesus calls people to repent—to change their thinking to trust in Him instead of themselves—and through salvation, we are transferred from darkness into His kingdom of light, where His restoring work begins in us (Colossians 1:13).
TRANSFORMATION, SUFFERING & THE WHOLE PERSON
Starting at salvation, God's kingdom is at work within us and among us, and yet, we do not yet experience its perfection in this life—it is both now and not yet. We recognize that in a fallen world, this journey includes suffering, trials, and hardship, and is not linear, organized, or simple. Even so, God is deeply compassionate to those suffering and present and at work in every part of the journey (Ps. 34:18, Rom. 8:28), and His transformation in us unfolds over a lifetime.
We believe that true transformation is the work of God in us—by His Spirit—as His kingdom takes root across the whole of our person in every area of life: spiritual, emotional/mental, relational, physiological, and directional (vocation and calling). It is rooted in Christ Himself working in us—not self-reliance or striving—as we encounter His presence, receive His love, and walk in greater revelation of Him.
In each of these areas, God provides truth, connection, wisdom, and practical tools that support real growth and renewal—through Scripture, His Spirit, wise counsel, lived experience, and insights from sound science and research (Romans 12:2). Over time, His life takes shape within us, bringing real restoration (Isaiah 61:1–3; Romans 5:3–5).
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer and is our Helper, Teacher, and Guide (John 14:26). Through Him, we are transformed into the likeness of Christ, growing in repentance, obedience, and the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23; 2 Thessalonians 2:13).
We believe the Holy Spirit not only teaches truth, but is God's presence—dwelling within us and tangibly among us—bringing comfort, conviction, guidance, power, and deep personal transformation (2 Corinthians 3:17–18; Romans 8:14–16). We believe that Christ-followers are called to be filled with the Spirit through drawing near to God, putting to death the flesh, and living in step with the Spirit.
We believe God speaks to His people through His Word and by His Spirit, and that His voice will never contradict Scripture (John 10:27; Galatians 1:8–9). We believe the gifts of the Spirit are active today and are to be pursued and practiced discerningly and according to Scriptural instruction (1 Corinthians 14).
TRUTH, SCRIPTURE & SCIENCE
We believe that all truth is God’s truth and that God reveals Himself through both His written Word (Scripture) and His created world (nature and science) (Psalm 19:1–2; Romans 1:20). Scripture is our final authority, and all understanding is tested and aligned with it (2 Timothy 3:16–17).
We also believe that careful study of the body, brain, and creation can provide meaningful insight into how God designed human beings to function. When rightly understood, sound science will not contradict Scripture but can support and illuminate it (Colossians 2:3). For this reason, we integrate biblically faithful, evidence-informed insights in a way that remains fully submitted to the authority of God’s Word.
COUNSEL & CARE
We believe that wise, Christ-centered counsel is one of the ways God meets people in their story—bringing clarity, healing, and renewed direction. Our role is to come alongside each person with compassion, wisdom, and a whole-person lens, helping them gently recognize patterns, experience God’s truth, and walk in the freedom He is already inviting them into.
While we may draw from various tools and frameworks, we remain rooted in Scripture and dependent on the leading of the Holy Spirit. We believe that God is the true source of transformation, and that growth unfolds as individuals encounter His presence—receiving healing, experiencing renewed thinking, turning from what does not lead to life, and learning to walk in step with Him over time.
THE CHURCH & RELIGIOUS HURT
We believe the Church is the family of God, the body of Christ, and the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit on earth (Ephesians 2:22; Romans 12:5). The Church exists to reach those far from God and to disciple believers. Every follower of Christ is called to live on mission and make disciples (Matthew 28:19–20).
We recognize that, because the Church is made up of fallen people, all of us will at times experience hurt within Christian community—and we will also, at times, contribute to that hurt. In some cases, this may include deep wounds or even abuse caused by sinful behavior, unhealthy leadership, or even false teaching. Yet we believe God is able and willing to bring healing, restoration, and truth even in these places.
While hurt occurs in community, we believe healing also happens in community. God’s design for restoration and growth is found within safe, healthy, and Christ-centered relationships, and we remain committed to pursuing that kind of community and trusting God to redeem what has been broken or lost.
SPIRITUAL WARFARE
We believe that there is a real spiritual battle that affects each of us, involving the world, the flesh, and the enemy (Ephesians 6:12). While not all struggle is spiritual in origin, we recognize that spiritual opposition can influence thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and even physical well-being.
We believe that Christ has already secured victory through His death and resurrection, and that believers are called to learn the invisible skills to enforce victory through truth, faith, repentance, and authority in Christ (Colossians 2:15). We approach spiritual warfare with wisdom and discernment—neither ignoring it nor overemphasizing it—and always in alignment with Scripture and the authority of Jesus.
MARRIAGE, SEXUALITY, & GENDER
We believe scripture defines marriage as a God-ordained institution of a life-long vow between one man and one woman (e.g. Gen. 2:24; Mic. 2:14) and that sex is a gift created by God to be enjoyed within this bond (e.g. 1 Cor. 6:15-7:5; Rom. 1:26-27).
While scripture permits divorce in rare cases (e.g. Mt. 5:31-32, 19:3-9; 1 Cor. 7:15), we will first encourage reconciliation by exhorting couples to rely upon God's ability and readiness to bring joy, forgiveness, and transformation within their marriage (e.g. Mt. 19:3-9; 1 Cor. 7:10-16). We fully support the high priority of physical safety in situations of abuse or violence.
Finally, we believe that one's gender is determined by God at birth based upon physical, biological makeup and is designed to remain unchanged and honored throughout life (Gen. 5:2). With this, we recognize that many individuals experience deep pain, confusion, or struggle related to sexuality, identity, and past experiences, including various forms of hurt, abuse, sin, or bondage. We approach every person with compassion, humility, and respect, believing that God meets people in their story and invites them into truth, healing, and freedom over time (Ps. 34:18).
RETURN & CONSUMMATION
We believe that one day Christ will return to the earth (Matthew 16:27) to bring a new heaven and a new earth where there is no more tears, sorrow, or pain (Rev. 21:4). We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation and hell and they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and the new heaven and the new earth.
